There’s a bunch of events to attend this silly season, but here are three of our favourites.

Family and Friends Christmas Parties

Sure, everyone has work Christmas parties.  But what about cheersing with your favourite people (by choice)?  There are tons of options to celebrate the lead up to Christmas on the Gold Coast - but one pretty fun one comes to mind.  A party with us at Putt Putt Mermaid Beach!  Our jungle hideaway BBQ zone is free to use and caters to groups of up to 50 people.  BYO eats and cook up a storm. You’re also free to decorate the space however you like and cool off with a celebratory drink (or two) after your game on the green.

Local Markets

Whether you’re shopping for last minute gifts or the ingredients for your pre-Christmas celebrations, The Village Markets has you sorted on December 16 and 23, 8:30 am to 1 pm.  Boasting boutique market stalls, street eats and live tunes, get set for the silly season with TVM.

Catch a Show at HOTA

In the hilarious show, The Listies Ruin Xmas, you and the kids will need plenty of room around you.  Why? Because you’ll be rolling around on the floor in fits of laughter before you know it!  Showing over 14 - 16 December at HOTA, the show’s a bit of fun and a neat $22.50 for tickets. How much better did Christmas on the Gold Coast just get?

Christmas Carols on the Gold Coast

Deck the halls with sunset singing and surprise Santa visits!  There’s just something about getting out into the community for some good old-fashioned carols.  Here are our top picks.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols | Broadwater Parklands | December 1

If you’ve ever been the Mayor’s Christmas Carols on the Gold Coast, you’ll know they’re an absolute hoot!  This year they’re being held on December 1 at the Broadwater Parklands.  Keep the kiddos happy with interactive games for the little ones kicking off at 2 pm.  Then the cracker of a night starts from 5 pm with Anthony Callea and Kate Ceberano taking to the stage.  Of course, there will be food trucks galore and a fireworks finale to end the night with a ‘pew pew!’

Broadbeach Christmas Carols | Broadbeach | December 8

Not only does Broadbeach’s Kurrawa Park have front row seats for ocean views and a sprawling lawn, but it’s also hosting this year’s Broadbeach Christmas Carols!  Score free parking at Pacific Fair from 3pm and wander over for kid’s rides and a special appearance from The Smurfs themselves.  Then you’ll be carolling into the night with renowned Australian legend, Martin Crewes. Christmas on the Gold Coast just got a whole lot more festive!

Carols on the Beach | Surfers Paradise | December 23

Who doesn’t love a sun-drenched, board short wearing Santa?!  Better yet, the big man will be arriving on a surfboat sleigh for this year’s Carols on the Beach.  A favourite for many families, pull up a beanbag or roll out a picnic rug and settle in for some fun-loving tunes.  Keep your peepers peeled for celebrity appearances or simply rock up from 6:30 pm and be surprised!

Christmas Day Lunches on the Gold Coast

Looking to head out on Christmas Day instead of pretending to enjoy Nana's trifle?  We don’t blame you! And with so many places to indulge in Christmas feasts, the answer seems obvious.

Sizzler | Mermaid Beach | Two Sittings

You’ve just gotta love our neighbours, right?  Sizzler Mermaid Beach is hosting Christmas Day Banquet Lunch over two sittings.  So you get the choice of either 10:45 to 1 pm or 1:30 to 3 pm.  You’ll enjoy all the trimmings without having to slave away in the kitchen all day (plus, no dishes).  How good is that? As well as filling your belly, there’ll also be face painting, live music on the ready and an appearance from Father Christmas.  If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Christmas on the Gold Coast without the kitchen mess, this is your place!

Harvest Buffet at The Star | Broadbeach | 12-3pm
